Dr Bourelly received her BA in psychobiology at Wellesley College in 1987, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University in 1993. After completing one year of Internal Medicine training at the Georgetown University, she pursued her Dermatology training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and graduated in 1997.

For the next 7 years, she worked at the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in Washington, DC prior to establishing this practice in January of 2005.

She was on staff at Georgetown University Hospital from 1997 and actively taught and practiced there from 2002 to 2008.

She has been board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology since 1997, and served as a vice-chair of the Dermatology Foundation from 1997-2003. She has been on staff at Montgomery General Hospital since 2005, serving as the department chair for 2 terms.
