Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective means for hair removal for all skin colors and types. By using a laser that is specific for targeting the pigment within the hair follicle, the hair itself can be damaged without causing unnecessary adjacent tissue burning. The technique employed in our office is performed with a long pulse ND-Yag laser manufactured by Sciton. This system uses a glass cooling plate to protect the skin from becoming damaged (or discolored) and keeps the procedure comfortable. It also relies on a computerized scanner to lay down evenly spaced “laser spots”, and practically eliminate the problem of “skipping” areas during the treatment session. Several treatments are required to achieve permanent reduction in hair growth and density. The number and time interval for these treatments will depend on what area of the body is being treated.
